The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2ABC has moved the third season of High Potential out of its fall 2026 schedule, and the show will not return until 2027. Mixed · 2No specific premiere date has been set for season 3, but a special episode of the show will air immediately after Super Bowl LXI on Sunday, 14 February 2027. Left · 1The series stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillory, a single mother with exceptional intelligence who is hired by the LAPD as a consultant on difficult cases. Its second season ended on 7 April with a cliffhanger, and ABC swiftly confirmed a third season.

Left · 1In the finale, Captain Nick Wagner (Steve Howey) was shot and left gravely injured. Deadline reported that this was Howey's last appearance as a series regular, because his one-year contract has expired. Its sources said it is unclear whether he will leave for good or return as a guest star. Mixed · 2The show has been a ratings success since its 2024 debut. Screen Rant says it did well on multiplatform viewers per episode in seasons 1 and 2 and edged out CBS's Tracker as 2025's most-watched TV show. It also cites Rotten Tomatoes critics' scores of 96 percent and 100 percent for the two seasons. Mixed · 2ABC's reasons for the delay have not been stated. Screen Rant says it is unknown why ABC chose early 2027, and The Independent says it has approached ABC for comment.

Centre · 1In High Potential's fall Tuesday 10 pm slot, ABC is airing RJ Decker, whose season 2 premiere Screen Rant says drew a record 9.61 million multiplatform viewers in its first week. Screen Rant argues the delay also spares High Potential competition from CBS's NCIS lineup on Tuesdays, which it says drew strong ratings on 6 October 2026.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
