The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Actor Alan Dysert, best known as Sean Cudahy on the ABC soap All My Children, has died at the age of 75. Mixed · 2His wife, Michele Dysert, announced the death in a Facebook post on Sunday, saying he died on October 23, 2026, which was a Friday. Mixed · 2She did not give a cause of death. In his 2023 memoir, Lights, Camera, Cancer!, Dysert wrote about living with a rare, aggressive and incurable cancer; Deadline cites the book's synopsis as listing four major cancer-related surgeries, one recurrence, many rounds of chemotherapy and 29 CT scans, and The Hollywood Reporter says he dealt with it for more than a dozen years.

Mixed · 2On the show, Sean Cudahy was a scheming, devious con man and the brother of the respectable Tom Cudahy, played by Richard Shoberg. The outlets give different dates for Dysert's run: Deadline says he appeared in 79 episodes from 1980 to 1990, while The Hollywood Reporter says he first appeared in 1979, left in 1981 and returned in 1988–90. Left · 1Born on June 12, 1951, Dysert was raised on a farm in Oakwood, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Illinois. He worked in real estate and did stand-up before landing uncredited roles in a 1978 episode of Soap and in Cheech & Chong's Next Movie (1980). Mixed · 2Afterwards he worked as a producer and director, including on the 2015 film The Senator, which he wrote, directed, produced and acted in. Deadline also lists producer credits on The Grift, Becoming Jesse Tate, My Many Sons and, this year, The Legend of Van Dorn.

Mixed · 2He also taught acting in the Nashville area at The Actor's School, which he founded in 1991. His wife described him as a beloved teacher and mentor and said he wanted family and friends to celebrate his life rather than mourn. Left · 1He is survived by his wife, whom he married in 2008, and his sons, Cody and Cooper.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
