The story, neutrally told

The 13th season of American Horror Story opened with the best streaming performance for a season premiere in the show's history, according to internal FX data. AHS: 13 drew some 4 million views worldwide on Hulu and Disney+ in the four days after its Sept. 24 premiere, calculated as total viewing minutes divided by run time. That equates to roughly 476 million minutes of watch time for the three episodes that debuted on premiere night; The Hollywood Reporter puts their run time at just under two hours, while Screen Rant says 87 minutes in total.

The result is a 50 percent improvement on season 12, Delicate (2024), and nearly double the two premieres before that. It was also the biggest launch on Hulu and Disney+ for any Ryan Murphy show, excluding his ABC series that stream next day. The Hollywood Reporter adds that the premiere averaged about 378,000 same-day viewers on linear FX, that the show is on track for Nielsen's top 10 streaming lists for Sept. 21-27, and that US viewers streamed 7 billion minutes of the full library in the two-plus years since Delicate ended.

The season brings back actors including Angela Bassett, Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts and Billie Lourd in earlier roles, and Screen Rant notes Ryan Murphy has teased an Avengers-style crossover.
