Right · 2Carroll first disclosed the assault, without naming Adams, in the autobiography Owning It, published last month. Carroll wrote that they decided only "at the very last minute" to include it, after discussions with partner Lou Teasdale and their publisher, and that only a few people knew beforehand. Right · 2In the book, Carroll describes Adams as a friend who often invited Carroll and a former partner out and bought clothes for Carroll. On the night of the assault, Adams texted to ask to come round to watch boxing and mixed drinks in the kitchen, after which Carroll felt light-headed. Adams stayed in the spare room, and Carroll writes of waking to find Adams under the duvet. Right · 2Carroll writes that they hit Adams, who fell to the floor, then locked the door and called police. Adams regained consciousness as officers arrived and claimed Carroll had hit Adams for no reason; both men were taken to the station.

Right · 2At trial, Adams argued that Carroll had attacked him. Judge Mary Loram rejected this, telling Adams: "You spun a literally incredible tale in which you painted yourself as the victim. You've actually started to believe your own lies." GB News adds that the judge saw "no realistic prospect of rehabilitation". Right · 2Carroll described the court case as "humiliating and horrendous" and said the assault affected every part of life, including football. Carroll asked people not to circulate pictures of the pair together, and GB News reports that Adams has made social media accounts private. Right · 1The Daily Mail reports that Adams ran a children's dance school, the Kevin Adams Academy in Harlow, Essex, which ceased operations in 2022, and that Adams appeared on Strictly It Takes Two in 2021. The Mail says it has contacted representatives for Carroll and Adams for comment.

Right · 1Last week Carroll said on Instagram that many men had shared their own experiences since the book came out, and that victims should be able to decide whether to name the person responsible. The Mail also notes Carroll has pleaded not guilty to breaching a non-molestation order involving ex-wife Billi Mucklow, with trial due next January.
