The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1Apple TV has added 12 actors to the cast of season 2 of its Mick Herron adaptation Down Cemetery Road, according to Deadline, which carried the news as an exclusive. Centre · 1Deadline names the newcomers as Martin Clunes, Fionn Whitehead, Paterson Joseph, Aasiya Shah, Dimitri Leonidas, Paul Chahidi, Liz White, Amanda Abbington, Jeff Rawle, Ashley McGuire, Amber Grappy and Yali Topol Margalith. Centre · 1Radio Times lists the same names and also names Joshua James, Sarah Kestelman and Tom Riley among the additions, then describes those three as returning cast members, so its account of who is new differs from Deadline's count of 12.

Centre · 2Emma Thompson, who is also an executive producer, and Ruth Wilson return as Zoë Boehm and Sarah Tucker, and Morwenna Banks returns as lead writer and executive producer. Centre · 1Season 2 is based on Herron's novels The Last Voice You Hear and Smoke and Whispers, and Börkur Sigþórssen is lead director; 60Forty Films is again producing. Centre · 2The official logline says the case begins after a woman falls in front of a train and takes the pair into the world of art and antiquities, where they cross a serial killer; Radio Times quotes a variant describing the "black market antiquities" world.

Centre · 2Season 1 launched on Apple TV in October 2025, and the second season was confirmed at the end of last year; Deadline notes Herron's Slow Horses was recently renewed for an eighth season. Centre · 1Radio Times recalls Thompson's statement at the renewal, in which she thanked viewers and praised Wilson, and a quote from Apple TV's Jay Hunt, creative director for Europe, saying audiences "fell in love" with the show.

Both outlets report the casting as an entertainment-industry update. Deadline leads with an exclusive and credit-heavy cast list; Radio Times leads with the familiar-name draw (Doc Martin, Sherlock) and recalls the renewal quotes.
Emphasis
Deadline stresses production credits, the source novels and the Slow Horses link. Radio Times stresses recognisable actors and the stars' renewal statements.
Leaves out or plays down
Radio Times omits the source novels, director and Slow Horses context. Deadline omits the renewal statements from Thompson and Apple TV.
