The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Apple TV announced on Wednesday 14 October that it has renewed the dark comedy thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed for a second season. Mixed · 2A writers room is under way, and Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter say season 2 production is slated to begin in the first half of 2027. Mixed · 2The Hollywood Reporter says the pickup comes about three months after the first season concluded, while TVLine says the 10-episode first season premiered in May on Apple TV.

Mixed · 2The series stars Tatiana Maslany as Paula, a newly divorced mom who falls into a rabbit hole of blackmail, murder and youth soccer after believing she witnessed a crime, while also facing a custody battle and an identity crisis. Left · 1Jake Johnson plays Paula's ex-husband Karl, and the ensemble includes Murray Bartlett, Dolly De Leon, Brandon Flynn, Jessy Hodges, Jon Michael Hill, Charlie Hall, Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg and Nola Wallace. Mixed · 2David J. Rosen created the show and is showrunner; executive producers include Rosen, director David Gordon Green, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and Anonymous Content's Bard Dorros, and Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios produce.

Mixed · 2In a statement, Rosen said: "We are delighted to continue the story of 'MPG' and deeply grateful to Apple and our incredible cast and crew. This is all pretty amazing for a show whose title came from a spam email." Centre · 1TVLine reports that the season 1 finale ended with Paula clearing her name in a double murder and regaining custody of her daughter, before she received a threatening message and incriminating video from her past; Rosen told TVLine the season 2 arc will keep Paula "on our toes".

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
