The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Barbie has released a signature doll of Celine Dion, modelled on the navy, long-sleeved dress she wore when she sang the Titanic theme "My Heart Will Go On" at the 1998 Academy Awards. Centre · 1The doll wears a necklace inspired by the "Heart of the Ocean" from the 1997 film, and has an updo hairstyle and silver earrings, according to the Evening Standard. Mixed · 2NBC News reports that the doll is a special edition in Mattel Creations' line, announced in an Instagram post whose caption said "she’s limited and she’s legendary". The Standard says it is on sale now for £69.99.

Centre · 1Dion said it was "a true honour to join the Barbie legacy with a doll inspired by one of the most meaningful moments of my career", and hoped it would inspire people to "express themselves with confidence, follow their dreams and believe in the power of their own voice". Centre · 1The Standard says Dion follows Mariah Carey and Tina Turner as a star given a Barbie, and notes she has sold nearly 260 million albums worldwide. Mixed · 2Both outlets note that Dion revealed in 2022 she had stiff-person syndrome and stepped away from performing, and that she returned to the stage last month with Paris concerts.

Mixed · 2The Standard describes the Paris run as 16 shows in September and October at the Plenitude Arena, while NBC News calls it a 26-show residency. Left · 1NBC News also recalls her 2024 Eiffel Tower performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, which co-host Kelly Clarkson called incredible, and quotes a fan who called the comeback show a "victory lap".

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
