The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2The BBC has confirmed that the search for the UK's entry to the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, covering both an artist and a song, is under way. Centre · 2The BBC says the focus is on presenting "the very best of contemporary British music". Centre · 2The search is led by UK Eurovision project director David May, who manages Sam Ryder, the 2022 runner-up, working with Andrew Cartmell, executive producer and head of delegation for the UK.

Centre · 2They are working with BBC Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Studios Entertainment Production and BBC Entertainment Commissioning, and the Evening Standard reports they will search across UK labels, publishers and the independent sector. Centre · 2May said the UK intends to be represented by "an outstanding current British act" and is looking for "an act with tried and tested live performance experience and a song crafted in the UK", adding that it is time the UK "reached the top of the Eurovision scoreboard once again". Centre · 2The chosen act and song will be announced ahead of the European Broadcasting Union's submission deadline in March 2027.

Centre · 2The search follows a poor 2026 result: the UK entry Eins, Zwei, Drei by Look Mum No Computer (Sam Battle) finished last with one point. Centre · 1Radio Times adds that Remember Monday (2025) and Olly Alexander (2024) also received zero in the public vote and were saved from the bottom by jury votes. Centre · 2The 71st contest will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria, after Bulgaria's Dara won this year with Bangaranga; both outlets cite an audience of about 160 million.

Centre · 2The shows will air on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, starting on 11 May with the Grand Final on Saturday 15 May 2027.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
