The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was listed as a full practice participant for a second straight day on Thursday 15 October, but said he does not yet know whether he will play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in Week 6. Mixed · 2Williams was hurt on a fourth-quarter scramble in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and has missed three games since. Fox News quotes him saying he "felt a pop" on the play. Mixed · 2Earlier Newsweek reports described the injury as a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Williams rejected that on Thursday, calling it a "pretty serious" tear and saying nothing reported nationally about it had been right. He declined to give the grade, saying "it's not deserving", according to Fox News.

Mixed · 2Williams said he still has a "stress test" and other evaluations to pass before a decision, according to The Athletic's Adam Jahns as relayed by Newsweek. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported he was on track to start. Fox News reports Williams did five to six hours of daily rehab and reached top sprint speeds. He also said: "If I'm good to go, I'm good to go. If I'm not and we're just not ready, then we got to wait." Centre · 1Head coach Ben Johnson has not named a starter. On 9 October he said Williams was progressively increasing his running and throwing. On Wednesday he said "It's still fluid, but I feel good about the plan that we have in place," and that health is the "No. 1 priority for all three guys". On 12 October he would not confirm Williams would return, though Ian Rapoport reported "all signs point to" it. Centre · 1Without Williams, Case Keenum started the Week 3 win over the Philadelphia Eagles and Tyson Bagent started Weeks 4 and 5. Chicago beat the New York Jets in Week 4, then lost 31-7 to the Green Bay Packers, where Bagent threw two interceptions and was replaced by Keenum. The Bears host the New England Patriots on Thursday 22 October.

Centre · 1In his two games before the injury, Williams completed 36 of 55 passes for 407 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and ran for two touchdowns.
