The story, neutrally told

Actor Bill Nighy, 76, was named best host at the British Podcast Awards for his weekly agony-uncle podcast Ill-Advised. He beat Louis Theroux, Katherine Ryan and Lily Allen in the category. Award organisers called the show an "irresistibly endearing series"; it is billed as "a podcast for people who don't get out much and can't handle it when they do", in which Nighy gives wry advice to listeners and muses about life, music and books.

The ceremony was the 10th annual British Podcast Awards, held on Thursday 1 October at the Indigo at The O2 in Greenwich, London. Hold or Fold, a Prison Radio Association series about problem gambling, won podcast of the year and best factual podcast. Pete Wicks' Man Made won two awards, best interview podcast and best health & wellbeing podcast, and Sean Bean's Get Birding also won two, best lifestyle podcast and best video innovation.

Other winners included Alan Carr and Lee Peart's Bottoms Up! (best food & drink), Sophie and Jamie Laing's NewlyParents (best entertainment) and That Peter Crouch Podcast (best sport). Fans voted Hard Launch with Dan & Phil the Listeners' Choice winner, and Georgie Styles took the rising star award.
