The story, neutrally told

Right · 2A bull bison charged a Ford Ranger pickup near Mud Volcano in Yellowstone National Park at around 2:45 a.m. on a Thursday, hitting the front of the truck. Right · 1The driver, Kyle Weber, a seasonal mechanic who had been working in the park, was travelling south from Canyon Village toward Fishing Bridge, according to Wyoming outlet Cowboy State Daily as relayed by Fox News. Right · 2Weber said he saw the bison in the road, braked and stopped, and waited for it to move on; the animal stayed put and then charged.

Right · 2Video shared on Facebook shows the bison standing on the dark two-lane road before it rushed the truck; Fox News says it struck the front-left side, and Breitbart says the animal then trotted off. Right · 2Weber said he was jolted and estimated the impact pushed the truck back at least a foot and a half. He reported no injuries. Right · 2Fox News reports, citing Cowboy State Daily, that the bumper and hood were dented and a side marker light broke. Weber told the outlet his wheel scrapes the bumper on sharp turns, but the headlight and everything else works.

Right · 1Weber plans to replace the bumper and side marker but may keep the dented hood as a reminder. Fox News said it asked Yellowstone for comment, and neither article reports a park response. Right · 2Both outlets link the incident to an earlier attack in which a bull bison threw grandfather Carl Isom-McDaniel into the air at Yellowstone, leaving him with a broken femur.
