The story, neutrally told

Right · 2Attorney General Todd Blanche said on Fox News Sunday on 4 October that it is "completely false" that armed federal agents will monitor the midterm elections. Right · 1Asked by host Shannon Bream whether the accusation of armed federal agents was accurate, Blanche answered that the people sent would be "election monitors as they are every single time". Right · 2Blanche said the Justice Department has monitored elections since the 1960s and that President Trump is doing what every administration has done.

Right · 1He said the department hopes to have 1,000 or more monitors and that they will go to every state, not only Republican or Democratic ones. Right · 1Blanche called the claims "fearmongering, false statements" by senators and congressmen, and said they should instead be thankful the government is ready to show up. Right · 1The Washington Examiner reported that he was reacting to a June press release from Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), who claimed Trump was weighing sending "armed federal agents to our schools, churches, fire stations, and other polling locations".

Right · 1Harmeet Dhillon, assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division, announced in August that the DOJ plans to deploy 1,000 monitors, a record; the department has typically sent between 200 and 800. Right · 1Democrats have warned that Trump may send Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents or the National Guard to polling stations. In May Trump said he would do "anything necessary" to ensure fair elections, but on Thursday he said he had not thought about deploying ICE in November, and border czar Tom Homan said last month there were no plans to send ICE to polling sites.

Framing
Both outlets relay Blanche's denial as the main news, largely in his own words, with little independent checking of it.
Emphasis
Blanche's rejection of the claim, the long history of DOJ monitoring, and his criticism of lawmakers. The Washington Examiner adds context on Democratic warnings and the Trump administration's statements on ICE.
Leaves out or plays down
Neither includes comment from Democrats or independent election experts responding to Blanche. Breitbart omits the background on Baldwin, Dhillon's record figure and the ICE statements.
