The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Netflix has ordered an untitled limited-series spinoff of Bridgerton chronicling the early life of a young Lady Violet and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. Mixed · 2Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini will write, executive produce and co-showrun it; Tom Verica is set to direct and executive produce, and Betsy Beers is also an executive producer. Mixed · 2It is the second spinoff of the series after Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023), and Netflix said the rollout will be similar to that show's; the title is still to be decided.

Centre · 1Unlike Queen Charlotte, which was an original creation, Deadline reports the new series has source material: Violet in Bloom, a novella by Julia Quinn about Violet and Edmund's love story. Left · 2No cast has been announced. Ruth Gemmell plays Violet in the main series and Connie Jenkins-Greig played a teenage Violet in Queen Charlotte; Variety says it is unclear whether Jenkins-Greig or other stars will return. Centre · 1Deadline says it was long rumored and had been speculated to be the first series ordered under the long-term overall deal Rhimes signed with Netflix in August; it adds that the franchise generates revenue beyond streaming, such as consumer products and live experiences.

Left · 2Season 5 of the main series, centred on Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza), is in production in London, and Netflix has renewed Bridgerton through a sixth season. Left · 1Trade outlets cite the franchise's performance: Queen Charlotte debuted at No. 1 in 91 countries, and season four premiered at No. 1 on Netflix's Global English TV list.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
