The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1Caitlin Clark gave her Indiana Fever exit interview on Thursday 8 October 2026, after the team's season ended in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Centre · 1Asked about a possible contract extension, Clark said she had not given it much thought, saying: "I haven't honestly given it much thought. I've been playing 18 holes every day." Centre · 1She said her focus was on building a roster that can win championships, adding: "No matter what I'm going to be here and make sure we have the opportunity to be able to win championships."

Centre · 1Gulf News describes the WNBA's new Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract (EPIC) provision as letting young players on rookie scale sign designated veteran extensions worth significantly more than the standard maximum salary, with eligibility tied to honours such as WNBA First or Second Team selection within their first three years. Centre · 1Clark said Angel Reese will be able to get an EPIC extension, and also mentioned Aliyah Boston and Paige Bueckers: "Angel will be able to get under EPIC. Obviously, we saw for AB to get her EPIC. Paige will be able to get hers the following year, I believe." Centre · 1Clark and Reese entered the WNBA together in 2024. Gulf News says the college rivalry between them has continued to draw attention, and that Reese's Atlanta Dream were one win away from the 2026 WNBA Finals.

Centre · 1Clark was also asked about the future of head coach Stephanie White. She did not say what should happen to White but spoke positively of her: "Personally, my relationship with Steph, she's somebody that's always supported me, and it's been really fun getting to play for her." Centre · 1Newsweek reports White is under fire as the Fever review their 2026 season. It notes the team made the playoffs in both of White's seasons, and cites the New York Liberty's firing of Sandy Brondello after a first-round exit as an example of a coach being dismissed despite past success.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
