The story, neutrally told

Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter, has died, her family announced on Tuesday. Outlets name different recipients of the statement: People (Variety, Mirror, Newsweek, Evening Standard), Page Six (Daily Mail), both (BBC), or "multiple outlets" (Independent). The statement called her "a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance" and "the light of our lives".

It asked for prayers and privacy and directed anyone struggling with mental health to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The statement gives no cause of death. The Daily Mail, citing law enforcement sources speaking to TMZ, said Fiona died at home and authorities were called at 12:10am. It also cited Page Six on a school email telling parents a student had died; no other outlet reports either detail. Fiona was born on 16 November 2012 and was the second of three daughters; her sisters are Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.

Chad Lowe is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe and won an Emmy for "Life Goes On". Outlets differ on when Lowe and Painter married: 2019 (Variety, Hollywood Reporter) or 2010 (Daily Mail). The Mirror and Daily Mail recalled that the family lost their home in the 2025 Pacific Palisades fire and quoted Lowe's earlier Instagram posts about his daughters.
