The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2Channel 4 has released a first-look trailer for I Am Helen, a two-part drama starring Nicola Coughlan, the next instalment of Dominic Savage's I Am… anthology. Centre · 1Coughlan, known for Derry Girls and Bridgerton, plays Helen, and Joe Cole plays her partner Steve. Centre · 1According to Digital Spy, the trailer opens with Helen describing a "rough patch" with Steve after five years together, before his behaviour becomes increasingly controlling and dangerous and she has to decide what to do about her safety.

Centre · 1Deadline highlights a line in the trailer spoken to Steve by a male confidant: "It's tough for blokes. You're made to be the bad guy." Centre · 2The official logline says the story, told through a female lens, examines pressures and expectations placed on women while confronting toxic masculinity and the damage it can do in modern relationships. Centre · 2The series began in 2019 with Vicky McClure, Samantha Morton and Gemma Chan, followed by Suranne Jones, Letitia Wright and Lesley Manville in 2021 and the feature-length I Am Ruth with Kate Winslet in 2022; Deadline says Winslet won a BAFTA for it.

Centre · 1Digital Spy describes I Am Helen as the first instalment in four years. Savage has written and directed every episode, and Krishnendu Majumdar and Josh Hyams produce, according to Digital Spy. Centre · 1On the project's announcement last year, Coughlan called it "an absolute honour" to work with Savage. Channel 4's drama commissioning editor Gemma Boswell called the pair a "powerhouse" and the story a "powerful and timely portrait of our times". Centre · 1Deadline places the drama after other high-profile work on the manosphere, such as Netflix's Adolescence and Louis Theroux's Inside the Manosphere, and says Me+ You Productions is behind it, co-funded by Sky Studios, with international sales handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.

Centre · 1Digital Spy says I Am Helen will air and stream on Channel 4 later this year; no exact date is given in either report.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.

Framing
Trade and entertainment-press trailer coverage: Digital Spy leads with anticipation and a plot summary; Deadline leads with the toxic-masculinity theme and ties it to the manosphere debate.
Emphasis
Digital Spy: plot, cast, anthology history, quotes from Coughlan and Channel 4. Deadline: theme, the quoted line, funding and distribution.
Leaves out or plays down
Neither gives an exact air date; Deadline gives little plot detail and no commissioner quotes.
Charged language
