The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1Chery said on Thursday 15 October 2026 that it would launch a new electric sports utility vehicle in Britain in early 2027. Mixed · 2The vehicle comes from the iCAUR brand and is a five-seater; GB News names it the V27, a square-shouldered SUV that will be iCAUR's flagship and first UK model. Centre · 1iCAUR will join the Chery, Omoda, Lepas and Jaecoo brands already sold in the UK. CNA says the brand is sold in 40 countries, according to Chery International, the group's export arm.

Centre · 1CNA reports that Chery's brands together held a 7% share of the British market through September, making Chery the top-selling Chinese carmaker and the second-largest seller overall after Volkswagen, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Right · 1GB News gives similar figures: Chery, Jaecoo and Omoda have registered more than 123,000 vehicles this year, over 7% of the market. It adds that the Jaecoo 7 was the UK's best-selling model in September, with more than 11,000 registrations, and that Lepas, the fourth brand, has sold almost 1,000 vehicles since its recent debut. Right · 1Chery International said iCAUR would combine a "spacious, award-winning interior, off-road capability and an advanced electrified powertrain". GB News says the V27 will be refined for UK roads at Chery's new Research and Development Centre of Excellence at UTAX Millbrook, and that iCAUR will operate as a standalone brand with a dedicated UK team.

Right · 1GB News says the launch will coincide with Chery Automobile's 30th anniversary and the end of Chery International UK's third year in Britain, and that the brand won a Best Interior Design Award at the 2026 Torino Automotive Design Awards. It says a full launch programme will follow in the coming months, and a further model, the V25, is due to be unveiled at the iCAUR International User Summit next week. Right · 1GB News also reports that another Chinese brand, Avatr, will make its European debut next month with the 06T and 07L, starting in Norway and Spain. Avatr is owned by Changan and CATL and plans six European models over three years. The article presents this as part of a wave of new Chinese brands entering the UK. Mixed · 2CNA places the launch in the context of European carmakers struggling to compete with Chinese rivals' prices and with tariff-related pressures. GB News says the iCAUR V27 will likely draw comparisons with Land Rover, and with the Jaecoo 7, which some have called the "Temu Range Rover".
