The story, neutrally told

Cindy Holland, chair of Paramount's direct-to-consumer division, announced in a memo to staff on Tuesday 29 September that she is leaving the company. She wrote that her last day was that day. Her exit comes as Paramount Skydance is days from closing its $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, according to Variety.

Outlets report that HBO chief Casey Bloys is the likely head of streaming for the combined company. IndieWire says this is not official and the merger has not yet closed. Holland's memo did not name Bloys but said David Ellison, Paramount Skydance's CEO, is "optimizing for HBO stability", which she said she fully supports.

Ellison called Holland "a force of nature" and credited her with Paramount+ reaching new heights and the transformation of Pluto TV. Holland was recruited as an adviser in January 2025 and became DTC chair in August 2025, having earlier helped build Netflix's original programming. Variety adds speculation that JB Perrette may join Bloys, and that other executives' fates are uncertain; IndieWire notes open questions on how HBO Max will be integrated with Paramount+ and on the roles of Mike DeLuca and Pam Abdy.
