The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2Lucasfilm Publishing has announced Star Wars: Princess of the Rebellion, a new book following Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo after the events of A New Hope. Centre · 1Collider reports that it was announced at the Star Wars Publishing Panel at New York Comic-Con on 9 October, with a release date of May 4, 2027. Centre · 1Screen Rant had reported a day earlier that Star Wars News Net spotted a listing on the Penguin Random House site confirming Claudia Gray's return.

Centre · 1According to that listing, the story begins just after the Rebellion destroys the Death Star, with Alderaan gone and the Rebellion having to leave its base on Yavin IV. Centre · 1Leia insists she is the best person to find a secret cache of weapons hidden years earlier by Bail Organa, whose location no one living knows, so the Rebellion can set up a new base. She sets out on the quest with Luke and Han, travelling to people and places from her past, not all of whom are still her allies. Centre · 1The listing describes Gray as a #1 New York Times bestselling author, known for Star Wars: Lost Stars. She also wrote the Leia novels Bloodline and Princess of Alderaan.

Centre · 1Collider says the book has art by Zoë van Dijk and that little else is known yet. It also says more details are expected soon. Centre · 2Both outlets place the book in a busy Star Wars period. Screen Rant notes next year is the 50th anniversary of A New Hope. Collider notes that the film Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, is due on May 28, 2027.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
