The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2The Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen's internationally recognized government released aerial footage dated Oct. 16 of what it described as strikes on a Houthi weapons-smuggling operation in the Red Sea port city of Hodeidah. Right · 1Arab News describes the nearly six-minute black-and-white video as showing apparent airstrikes hitting trucks, small boats and what appear to be storage facilities, and says it was posted on X by coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki. Right · 1The coalition gave no further details in the video about the specific targets, the weapons allegedly smuggled or the extent of the damage, so the claims are not independently verified in the coverage.

Centre · 1Gulf News, citing the Saudi Press Agency, says the coalition described the targets as part of the Houthi militia's maritime network for smuggling weapons by sea to Al Hudaydah Governorate. Centre · 1In a separate statement carried by SPA on Oct. 17, the coalition said it destroyed two ballistic missile launchers in Saada Governorate; Al Malki also said forces intercepted a ballistic missile launched toward Yanbu, two cruise missiles over the Red Sea and three drones over southern and Riyadh regions. Centre · 1Saudi Civil Defence lifted an early warning alert for Jazan province on Friday, saying the danger had passed, after earlier warnings for Khamis Mushait and Yanbu.

Right · 1Hodeidah is a strategic Red Sea port under Houthi control, and the Iran-backed Houthis have fought the government since seizing Sanaa in September 2014. Right · 1Arab News adds that the Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia, including a strike on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport that reportedly killed 13 people, and have threatened shipping through the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.
