Centre · 2The BBC has confirmed that Cunk on Cinema, a new three-part series starring Diane Morgan as Philomena Cunk, will premiere on Thursday 12 November at 10pm on BBC Two. Centre · 2All three episodes will be available as a boxset on BBC iPlayer on the same day. Centre · 2The series follows Cunk through the history of cinema, from the invention of the camera and the silent era through the New Wave, New Hollywood and CGI to the present and the future, including AI in the industry. It is billed as her "most glamorous" series yet.

Centre · 2The synopsis says Cunk will "attempt to demystify it all while sitting in lumpy seats with stale popcorn, asking herself where did cinema come from? And why? What does it want? And why can’t it tell us?" Centre · 2Guests named include director Michael Bay, actor Benedict Cumberbatch, composer Daniel Pemberton, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey and film critic Mark Kermode. Radio Times also lists screenwriter Steven E de Souza and Empire editor Helen O’Hara, while Digital Spy lists Mark Cousins. Centre · 1Digital Spy reports that Morgan and Charlie Brooker co-wrote the series with other contributors and are its executive producers, and that Al Campbell directs all three parts.

Centre · 2Both outlets link the news to Morgan's sitcom Ann Droid; Digital Spy adds that the BBC commissioned a second series in August, and recalls earlier Cunk shows Cunk on Britain (2018) and Cunk on Earth four years later.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
