Mixed · 2Death in Paradise, the BBC crime series, will get its first international adaptation, in Croatia. Left · 1The Croatian version, called "Ubojstvo u raju", will be set in a fictional island community on the island of Brač, with production in and around Supetar, and principal photography is planned for spring 2027. Left · 1It will be produced for HRT1 by CGM Films, which is already behind "Sram", whereas the original UK series is made by Fremantle company Red Planet Pictures for the BBC; the format is distributed internationally by BBC Studios.

Left · 1Producers Bruno Mustić and Ivan Lovreček lead the project, with Jelena Gavrilović joining as director, Sonja Tarokić and Valentina Batalić writing, and Maja Fišter as HRT's commissioning editor, according to Variety. Mixed · 2The story centres on Petar, a detective who feels out of place, and the local police team, particularly Marina, whose understanding of the island challenges his methods. Mixed · 2Mustić and Lovreček said in a statement they would bring "that same blend of murder mystery, humor, warmth and strong sense of place" and create "an authentically Croatian world with characters and cases rooted in Adriatic Island life".

Mixed · 2Lovreček told Variety the original is a well-established brand in Croatia for over a decade and that the team is not simply moving the series to a Croatian location. Mixed · 2Rose Hughes, SVP Global Format Sales at BBC Studios, said the company was delighted to see CGM Films bring the format to Croatia and looked forward to seeing how they make it uniquely Croatian. Left · 1The original, created by Robert Thorogood, has reached more than 230 territories; its 16th series is in production and it has been recommissioned for a 17th, and it has two spin-offs, Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise.

Right · 1The Daily Express, citing the Mirror and Variety, also recalled the BBC's renewal of the show for two more series, with BBC Drama director Lindsay Salt calling it "a global phenomenon".
