The story, neutrally told

An official trailer for season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection has been released, and the series returns to Paramount+ on October 30. The trailer shows Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) in a midlife crisis, which the season's official description calls a new and unexpected enemy. Per the description from showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, Dexter is caught between two killers: one with decades of notoriety, and a young newcomer terrorizing New York. Harrison (Jack Alcott) continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son face their darkest chapter yet.

Deadline identifies the two new killers as Don Frampt, The New York Ripper (Brian Cox), and Owen Stark, the Five Borough Killer (Dan Stevens). It adds a third, Ray Ballard (Gabriel Luna), who operates as The Sleepy-Eyed Stranger. Desmond Harrington's Joey Quinn returns; Deadline says Harrington was promoted to series regular, and Screen Rant says it is unclear whether Quinn will hunt Dexter or become an ally. Krysten Ritter also returns, though Deadline says in what capacity is unknown and speculates about her character Mia LaPierre, while Screen Rant describes a guest-starring role.

Other cast includes Bokeem Woodbine as Capt. Mixon and Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon. Screen Rant adds that the aftershow Dexter: Final Cut returns to YouTube on October 3, hosted by Jamie Chung. Screen Rant also notes a trailer sequence of Dexter walking into a precinct wearing his badge, which it reads as a return to his Miami roots.
