The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1Disney has released a new trailer for its animated film Hexed, in which Hailee Steinfeld voices Billie, a teenage outcast who discovers she has magical powers. Centre · 1Billie's powers take her to the magical world of Hexe. According to /Film, the trailer shows that Queen Celeste wants the new arrival captured. Centre · 1Walton Goggins narrates as Beef Roger Crummchuk, a green, three-eyed cat who becomes Billie's reluctant mentor. He was first revealed at Disney's D23 Expo in September.

Centre · 1The trailer also shows that Billie's mother Alice, voiced by Rashida Jones, had fitted her with a purple gem that blocks her powers to keep her safe. Billie's accidental portal to Hexe forces Alice to track her down. Centre · 1Screen Rant reports that Jodie Foster voices Queen Celeste. It describes the film's core as the relationship between Billie and her overprotective mother. Centre · 1After an early press day, Screen Rant interviewed producers Roy Conli and Yvett Merino, directors Fawn Veerasunhorn and Jason Hand, and writers Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller. They said the story was reworked through Disney's iterative process, and Veerasunhorn said that for a long time the team sided too much with Alice.

Centre · 1Hexed is due in theaters on 25 November 2026, in Thanksgiving week. /Film asks whether it can match Disney hits such as Frozen and Moana.
