The story, neutrally told

Centre · 1Dutton Ranch stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser addressed a rumour that the Yellowstone spin-off has a five-season plan, telling The Hollywood Reporter they had not heard of one. Centre · 1Hauser said the cast had had no time to think about it, noting that they filmed to the end of March and have been on the road promoting the show. Centre · 1Reilly said she does not want the show to overstay its welcome: she would continue "if the writing is good", and if not, she and Hauser are working actors who "will be fine".

Centre · 1Hauser was more open to a long run, saying he would love to continue entertaining the audience if viewers keep responding as they have to the franchise over the last 10 years or so. Centre · 2Dutton Ranch has already been renewed for a second season. Appearing at Paramount's UK upfronts, Reilly said season 2 filming begins in early 2027, which Screen Rant says would make a late 2027 Paramount+ premiere possible. Centre · 2The series follows Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they move to South Texas and become ensnared in a rivalry with another ranch; it launched in May and, per Screen Rant, was the biggest original series launch on Paramount+, averaging a record 13.4 million viewers worldwide.

Centre · 2Season 2 will be led by new showrunner Benjamin Cavell after original showrunner Chad Feehan was fired; /Film notes the show parted ways with its original showrunner a month before the premiere, and Screen Rant attributes the firing to clashes with the actors and Taylor Sheridan. Centre · 2Sheridan does not write Dutton Ranch, and /Film says his absence was challenging for Hauser. Centre · 1Season 1 ended on cliffhangers, including Carter's kidnapping by Mariano Reyes and the unresolved question of who shot Rob-Will Jackson, and Ed Harris's Everett McKinney is set for a bigger role.
