The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Meta announced on Tuesday 13 October 2026 that Facebook is getting a new feature called "Your Algorithm", which lets users add and manage the topics they want to see in their Feed and Facebook Reels. Mixed · 2Users can reach the feature, or choose "interested" or "not interested", from the three-dot menu on individual posts, and those buttons may also appear under posts. Mixed · 2Meta says the platform may ask follow-up questions for more detail on what users liked or disliked, and that users can say in their own words what they want to see more or less of.

Mixed · 2Meta says recommendations update in real time, "respond right away" to changes, and adapt within the same session. Left · 1Meta describes the tools as "AI-powered" and says it is using large language models (LLMs) more in its ranking systems, because they can take in the interests, context and intent behind natural language, which it calls "an algorithm you can actually talk to". Mixed · 2Your Algorithm first launched on Instagram: for Reels in December 2025, then across Feed and Explore in June 2026, according to TechCrunch. Threads has a similar feature called "Dear Algo".

Centre · 1TechCrunch describes Facebook as the latest social platform to give users more control over their feed algorithm. It reads the move as a shift away from traditional recommendation systems, towards the personalisation streaming services offer; this is the outlet's own interpretation.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
