The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Marvel screened the first episode of its Disney+ series VisionQuest at New York Comic Con on Thursday 8 October 2026. Left · 1Variety describes the screening as a surprise that closed Marvel's "Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation" panel, and says the embargo on reactions lifted at 5:45 pm ET as the panel ended. Mixed · 2Reactions came from journalists who had seen part of the season in advance and from con-goers who saw the premiere episode. Variety calls them largely positive.

Mixed · 2Nexus Point News' Demet K. called it "a worthy successor to WandaVision" and "a love letter to Wanda Maximoff at times". Demet K. said it tackles love, grief, generational trauma and identity, and praised James Spader and Emily Hampshire. Mixed · 2Agent of Fandom's TJ Zwarych praised the chemistry between Paul Bettany and James Spader but noted that the show "drags a bit in the middle". Left · 1Brandon Davis, who co-hosted the Marvel panel with Marvel TV and animation chief Brad Winderbaum, called it "a fantastic sequel to WandaVision". Davis said it embraces many corners of the MCU. Variety notes his role at the panel. Mixed · 2The first two episodes of VisionQuest premiere on Disney+ on 14 October.
