The story, neutrally told

Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster will release Curry Barker's 'Anything But Ghosts' on May 7, 2027. Focus has worldwide rights, and Universal Pictures International will handle international distribution. Barker co-wrote the film with Cooper Tomlinson, and the two star as wannabe ghosthunters who end up in over their heads.

The cast also includes Violet McGraw, Chris Reinacher, Bryce Dallas Howard and Aaron Paul. The Hollywood Reporter says the production budget is around $5 million. Obsession, acquired by Focus at Toronto in 2025 for $15 million, became the studio's top-grossing film and topped $500 million globally.

Deadline puts Obsession's domestic total at $263.4 million and says it opened to $17.1 million. Barker told Deadline that shooting the film on a 26-day schedule with a 130-page script was very hard, and told The Hollywood Reporter the film will be very different from Obsession. Deadline reports that Barker has said the film shares a universe with Obsession.
