The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2The Food Standards Agency has issued a recall of five foods sold at Marks & Spencer and Tesco because of fears they could be contaminated with Salmonella. Mixed · 2Greencore, the maker, is recalling the products because of the possible presence of salmonella in pistachio ingredients; the Daily Express says pistachio nuts used as an ingredient were found to potentially contain the bacteria. Mixed · 2Three are M&S products: Super Nutty Wholefood with a Soy & Ginger Dressing (200g), Nutrient Dense Nutty Super Wholefood (285g) and Fresh Collection Pistachio Pesto (115g).

Mixed · 2The other two are Pinch ready meals (400g), Pan Poppin' Chicken Pasanda & Nutty Pilau Rice and Bangin' Butter Chicken & Nutty Pilau Rice, which are sold exclusively through Tesco. Mixed · 2The recall covers specific dates only. The Mirror lists all dates up to 10 October for the two Pinch meals and the Soy & Ginger salad, up to 11 October for the Nutrient Dense salad and up to 13 October for the pesto; the Express gives windows starting on 8 October and describes the Pinch dates as best-before rather than use-by. Mixed · 2Customers are told not to eat the products and to return them to the store for a full refund; the FSA says no receipt is needed. M&S apologised for any inconvenience and said no other M&S products are affected.

Mixed · 2Salmonella symptoms include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. Anyone with symptoms should stay away from work, school or nursery until 48 hours after the symptoms stop; the Mirror's headline describes this as isolating for two days. The Express adds that symptoms usually appear within 12 to 36 hours, most cases clear in four to seven days, and people should seek medical help if they have severe pain, persistent fever, dehydration or blood in diarrhoea. Left · 1The Mirror notes that in August Greencore recalled three pasta salads sold at Asda and Morrisons over possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
