Futurama's Season 14 ends its Hulu run, with three specials planned for later

Hulu has no plans for more Futurama seasons after the Season 14 finale, but three super-sized specials are planned, and creator Matt Groening says the show will return.

The story, neutrally told

Hulu has no plans to order more seasons of Futurama after the Season 14 finale, which is now streaming. Three super-sized specials are still set to stream, the first a Christmas-themed instalment in 2027. The finale is titled "Final Ending: The Last Conclusion".

Groening told Variety that the show has ended many times before and that the finale title jokes about it. Groening said, "They can put us in a coffin, they can nail the lid shut, but they can't bury us. We will rise again." Groening said the specials will pay off long-hinted story threads and answer some questions for dedicated fans, without giving details.

Executive producer David X. Cohen said on a podcast that this is the show's sixth series finale. The show ran on Fox from 1999 to 2003, was revived by Comedy Central from 2009 to 2013, and was revived again by Hulu, where it ran four more seasons. The A.V. Club reports that the main voice cast is reportedly returning for the specials.
