The story, neutrally told

Right · 1Gary Neville's The Overlap is moving from weekly to daily football talk shows, with The Overlap Daily launching on Friday and running every weekday after that. Right · 2The line-up includes former players Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp and Match of the Day presenter Kelly Cates; the Irish Independent also names Duncan Ferguson and Joe Hart. Right · 1Neville will not be a regular presence on the daily YouTube show after the first episode. Right · 1Neville said the team had wanted a daily show for some time, and that when a manager was sacked in the last year and there was no programme for seven days, they recognised they needed to "go for it". Right · 1The announcement said the expansion "underscores The Overlap's wider ambitions to build the world's leading non-live football media platform"; Global CEO Simon Pitts said it takes the brand's ambition "to the next level". Right · 1The show launches with three sponsors: Sky Bet, Huel and fashion brand Arne.

Right · 1The move follows media group Global's majority buyout of The Overlap earlier this year and a subsequent deal to show episodes on Disney+. Right · 2Both outlets present the launch as part of Neville's rivalry with Gary Lineker, whose podcast business Goalhanger has a two-year deal to show The Rest Is Football on Netflix after a successful 2026 World Cup.
