The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2Hulu released the first official trailer for The Land, a football family drama created by Dan Fogelman, on Tuesday 13 October. Centre · 1TVLine describes the trailer as nearly two minutes long and says it introduces the Durkins, headed by patriarch Hal (William H. Macy), owner of the Cleveland Browns. Centre · 1Hal's daughters are played by Mandy Moore and Chloe Bennet, and the team's head coach Danny Roarke is played by Christopher Meloni; Sam Corlett plays Danny's son Connor, the quarterback.

Centre · 1Collider also lists Chace Crawford, Tanner Zagarino, Bridget Moynahan and Omar Epps in the cast. Centre · 1In the trailer Hal tells his daughters, "You are members of this family," and asks, "Can you take this franchise into the next era?"; he also laments that Danny will not play "the quarterback we mortgaged our future for." Centre · 2Hulu's synopsis says that after several disappointing seasons, Danny Roarke has one last chance to turn around the team, and his fate rests on a newly drafted Ohio State quarterback who is his son.

Centre · 1The synopsis adds that Hal must decide which of his two daughters is best equipped to take over the team, and that the drama plays out on the field and in the front office as a loyal fanbase wants a winning season. Centre · 1TVLine reports that the series premieres on Monday, February 15, with two episodes, followed by one new episode weekly. Centre · 1Collider says Hulu debuted the first images from the show last week, and that Crawford has described it as "Friday Night Lights meets Succession"; it also notes Fogelman wrote This Is Us and created Hulu's Paradise, which returns for a third and final season next year.
