The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2The UAE Lottery on Monday 26 October named the winner of the Dh5 million second prize in its draw of Saturday 3 October as Kishore Pandurang Rao, an Indian expatriate living in Sharjah. Centre · 1Gulf News reports that he matched all six numbers in the "Days" section of Lucky Day Draw No. 261003 but missed the Dh30 million grand prize by one number, because the Months number, 10, did not match his ticket. Centre · 1According to Gulf News, his Dh50 ticket was bought on The UAE Lottery platform and generated using Easy Pick.

Centre · 1He turned 60 on 8 October, five days after the draw, and has lived in the UAE since 1993, including in Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Centre · 1He told The National he was sitting quietly scrolling online when an email from The UAE Lottery arrived, which he first took for a routine verification email. Centre · 1Gulf News adds that he first saw his name in the news and could not believe it was him until he checked his account, and that the first person he told was his wife, with the couple keeping the news within a small circle.

Centre · 2Mr Rao said he wants to bring his family together in the UAE after periods living apart, support his elder son's plans to start a business and his younger son's higher education, and travel the world with his wife. Centre · 1He said he hopes to apply for a UAE Golden Visa, a long-held wish, and is considering buying a home and cars in the UAE and India while keeping the family home in India, but said he will not rush decisions. Centre · 1Gulf News also quotes him urging players to know their limits and set a spending limit; it says The UAE Lottery states its games are regulated by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).
