The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Israel's Defence Ministry said on Thursday 8 October 2026 that it had opened its first national pavilion at the Marrakech Airshow in Morocco. Mixed · 2The ministry described it as Israel's first official participation in a defence exhibition held in Morocco since the Abraham Accords were signed. Mixed · 2Eight Israeli defence companies exhibited what the ministry called combat-proven technologies, including loitering munitions, AI-powered robotic systems, autonomous navigation for UAVs, laser guidance for FPV drones and satellite communications.

Mixed · 2Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Rafael, Israel's three major defence industries, were also present, offering solutions across air, land, sea, space, intelligence, cyber and digital domains. Left · 1Al Jazeera reports the show runs from 7 to 10 October at the Marrakech Royal Moroccan Air Force Base and is held every two years. Right · 1Yair Kulas, head of the ministry's International Defense Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT), called the participation an important milestone and a platform for expanding international defence cooperation and building long-term partnerships.

Right · 1The Jerusalem Post says the move is part of a ministry strategy to increase defence exports, and notes it comes as France and other Western allies have banned or reduced Israeli participation in shows over its conduct in the Gaza war. Left · 1Al Jazeera places the pavilion in the context of warming ties: Israel and Morocco established relations in 2020, and last month agreed to upgrade their missions to embassies, expand air travel and plan high-level visits. Left · 1Al Jazeera adds that Morocco is one of five countries that have pledged troops to the US-backed International Stabilization Force for Gaza.
