The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2The Israeli army said late on Wednesday 28 October that it launched an interceptor at a suspected aerial target detected in an area of southern Lebanon where its troops are operating. Mixed · 2The army said no warning sirens were activated, in line with its policy or protocol. Centre · 1According to Anadolu, the army made the announcement in a statement on X and gave no further details about the target or whether it had been intercepted.

Centre · 1Anadolu reported that Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) described a series of Israeli attacks at the same time: two consecutive airstrikes on Kfar Tebnit, strikes on the outskirts of Barashit and the Wadi al-Hujayr area, and a demolition by Israeli troops in Deir Mimas. Centre · 1The NNA also said two explosive-laden drones detonated above Mansouri after flying low over the town and neighbouring Qlayleh and Buyut al-Sayyad, and that Israeli aircraft flew low over southern Lebanon, conducting mock raids and releasing flares. Centre · 1Anadolu placed the incident in the context of a US-sponsored Lebanon–Israel agreement of 26 June, which calls for a gradual Israeli withdrawal in exchange for deployment of the Lebanese army and disarmament of armed groups.

Centre · 1Anadolu says Israeli attacks have continued despite the agreement, killing at least 4,386 people and injuring 12,407 since 2 March and displacing more than 1 million; it adds that Israel still occupies areas of southern Lebanon and advanced about 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) into Lebanese territory in the latest conflict.
