The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Israeli forces raided the West Bank city of Nablus early on Wednesday 7 October 2026 and demolished memorials to Palestinians killed by Israeli forces or accused of attacks on Israelis, according to local sources and officials. Centre · 1Anadolu Agency, citing local sources, said a military bulldozer demolished memorials in the Al-Dawar and Ras al-Ain areas, that a curfew was imposed in several areas, and that Karman School on Kashika Street was turned into a field interrogation centre where some detainees were beaten. Mixed · 2Anadolu named journalist Amir Istitiyeh among those detained, while Nablus deputy mayor Iyad Bakeer told AFP that scores of residents were arrested.

Right · 1The action was wider than Nablus: an army spokesperson told AFP the military acted across the West Bank "to destroy monuments to terrorists", without explicitly linking it to the anniversary. Right · 1In the Jenin region, governorate spokeswoman Hala Abu Baker said troops destroyed a stone monument to Yasser Hamdouni in the town of Yaabad and removed photos of others from several places in Jenin city; Hamdouni was accused of killing an Israeli settler in 2003 and died in 2016 while serving a life sentence. Right · 1AFP noted that Israeli politicians have often denounced such monuments as glorifying attacks, but that it is rare for the army to destroy them, especially in areas nominally under Palestinian Authority control.

Right · 1Separately, in Beit Duqqu, northwest of Jerusalem, the army destroyed the home of Qadri Samara, a detainee accused of killing an Israeli settler last month; the mayor said troops raided at 4:00 am and distributed leaflets announcing the demolition. Right · 1Israel says home demolitions deter attacks, while rights groups accuse it of collectively punishing relatives. Centre · 1Also on Wednesday, Anadolu reported, Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian homes in Deir Nizam, northwest of Ramallah, damaging property, burning a vehicle and spray-painting racist slogans in Hebrew, according to local sources.

Mixed · 2On the wider toll, Anadolu cited the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission as counting more than 14,742 settler attacks since October 2023 that killed 66 Palestinians, while AFP's tally from Palestinian health ministry data says Israeli forces or settlers have killed 1,113 Palestinians in the West Bank since the Gaza war began, and Israeli figures show at least 49 Israelis killed.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
