Israeli forces detain Syrian resident in raid on Maariya village, Daraa

Israeli forces entered Maariya in western Daraa province early on 2 October and detained at least one resident, according to Syrian media. The raid came days after President Ahmad al-Sharaa told the UN General Assembly about Israeli incursions since late 2024.

The story, neutrally told

MixedIsraeli forces entered the village of Maariya in western Daraa province, southern Syria, early on Friday 2 October and detained a Syrian man, according to Syrian media. CentreSyrian Alikhbariah TV described the detention of "a young man" and gave no further details. RightA local source told the state news agency SANA that twelve Israeli military vehicles entered Maariya, in the Yarmouk Basin, through the northern entrance known locally as Valley Road, moved through several residential neighbourhoods and searched a number of homes.
