The story, neutrally told

MixedOn Friday 2 October, Palestinian sources reported that Israeli settlers injured Palestinian farmers during attacks on olive harvesters in the northern West Bank, near Nablus. CentreIn Beita, south of Nablus, a 46-year-old man was beaten, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society; witnesses told Anadolu that stun grenades and tear gas were fired at farmers in the Jabal al-Arma area, forcing them to leave. RightArab News, citing the Palestinian news agency WAFA, said settlers accompanied by Israeli forces attacked farmers in seven Nablus-area communities (Beita, Urif, Jamma'in, Awarta, Asira Al-Qibliya, Beit Furik and Deir Sharaf); in Deir Sharaf a man and his wife were beaten and left with bruises and other injuries.

RightWAFA also reported that Israeli forces fired stun grenades and tear gas at farmers and the foreign activists accompanying them, and Arab News described video from Beita showing an armed settler, apparently from a nearby settlement's security squad, telling Palestinians and activists they were not permitted in the area. CentreIn Salfit province, WAFA reported that settlers backed by Israeli forces prevented harvesting in Deir Istiya and forced farmers off land in Farkha and Haris, and that Israeli forces detained three farmers from Haris. CentreSeparately, the Palestinian Prisoners' Media Office said the Israeli army arrested six Palestinians in West Bank raids: three in Burqa, northwest of Nablus, and one each in Zababdeh, Jayyus and Hebron province; raids in Ramallah and Al-Bireh produced no reported arrests.

RightArab News also noted that on Thursday settlers were filmed vandalizing olive trees and taking olives belonging to residents of Al-Mughayyir while Israeli soldiers stood by, according to Israeli media. MixedBoth outlets place the incidents at the start of the annual harvest, which Anadolu says runs from early October to the end of November and which Arab News says has historically brought more settler attacks and access restrictions; Arab News adds that access rules vary, with some areas barred, some open and some requiring Israeli Civil Administration authorization. CentreAnadolu cited Palestinian figures from the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission: 2,051 attacks by Israeli forces and settlers in September (1,404 by the army, 647 by settlers), settler attacks that killed three Palestinians and injured 88, and 14,600 trees damaged including 9,334 olive trees; it also cited 5,561 settler attacks from January through September 2026.

CentreAnadolu quoted farmers saying the harvest has become dangerous and that olive oil production could fall to around 20% this year because access to land is repeatedly blocked. No Israeli army or government response is included in either report, and the accounts rest on Palestinian sources and witnesses.
