Two new Pocket Potters books, on McGonagall and Fred and George, due February 2027

Bloomsbury is adding two illustrated children's guides, on Professor McGonagall and the Weasley twins, to its Pocket Potters series for February 2027. Headlines present them as "new Harry Potter books", but they are short character guides rather than new novels.

The story, neutrally told

Centre · 2Bloomsbury Publishing is adding two titles to its Pocket Potters line, Pocket Potters: McGonagall and Pocket Potters: Fred and George, due in February 2027. Centre · 1Screen Rant gives a release date of 23 February 2027. It notes that Amazon lists the books with a later date of 7 March. Centre · 2Both outlets headline the books as new Harry Potter books from J.K. Rowling. Screen Rant says they are not new mainline novels. They are collectible illustrated guides for younger readers that retell moments from the existing books.

Centre · 2Natalie Smillie illustrates the McGonagall book, which covers her role as Head of Gryffindor House, her ability to turn into a tabby cat and her relationship with Harry. Centre · 2Helen Brady illustrates the Fred and George book, which follows the twins' pranks and inventions up to the opening of Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Centre · 1Screen Rant says both are 32-page hardcovers at a UK retail price of roughly £10, with a limited-time £3 discount at Bloomsbury, and that pre-orders are open.

Centre · 2They join existing guides to Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore and Luna. Screen Rant adds that Hagrid and Dobby joined in August 2026, bringing the line to nine guides, and it reads the additions as a sign the series will continue. Centre · 2Both outlets place the announcement ahead of HBO's Harry Potter series, which they say premieres on 25 December. Screen Rant adds that Rowling is an executive producer.
