Jailed Palestinian small-boat arrival Abu Wadee found in Corby asylum HMO, then moved

Abu Wadee, 34, who crossed the Channel in March 2025 and was jailed for nine months, was found in a Corby HMO under the asylum dispersal scheme. The Daily Mail reports he was driven away on 30 September; the Home Office is said to be seeking his removal.

The story, neutrally told

Abu Wadee, 34, a Palestinian who arrived in the UK by small boat in March 2025, was found living in a house of multiple occupation (HMO) in Corby, Northamptonshire. He was jailed for nine months for entering without leave or valid entry clearance, and after his release in December he was housed with three other asylum seekers. Both outlets say he had posted a video calling for Jews to be killed and had been a member of a militant 'tyre-burning unit' in Gaza; he told the Northamptonshire Telegraph he no longer supports Hamas and that the remarks were eight years ago.

GB News, citing average Home Office figures, said taxpayers would pay £23.25 a night for his accommodation and he would receive up to £49.18 a week in subsistence. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp called it a 'joke' that taxpayers were funding his home and urged that he be sent back to Gaza. Corby's Labour MP Lee Barron said he was contacting Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to seek Wadee's 'immediate deportation'.

GB News reports the Home Office cannot currently deport him because of 'risks to life' in the region and a lack of safe routes to Gaza. The Daily Mail reported that on 30 September he left the house in a taxi watched by two Northamptonshire Police officers, and that Home Office officials are understood to be seeking his removal; his destination was not stated. Campaign Against Antisemitism criticised the authorities as too slow, saying the CPS had refused to charge him with terrorism offences.

A Government spokesperson said foreign nationals who receive prison sentences are referred for deportation at the earliest opportunity, citing over 11,000 foreign criminals returned in two years.

Framing
Both outlets present the case as a scandal of taxpayer-funded housing for a convicted, allegedly extremist illegal entrant, and of slow deportation. GB News leads on cost; the Mail on the removal from the house and the earlier Mail on Sunday exposure.
Emphasis
Neighbours' alarm, taxpayer cost (GB News), his weapons photos, Tory and Campaign Against Antisemitism criticism, and the Mail's follow-up video and taxi departure.
Leaves out or plays down
Neither carries a comment from Wadee's lawyers or any voice defending him beyond his own statements; the Mail does not mention the 'risks to life' barrier to returning to Gaza; GB News does not report that he was moved.
