The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Jesse Sisgold, a longtime Skydance executive who most recently ran the company's sports division, is leaving his post to take an advisory role at RedBird Capital Partners. Mixed · 2Skydance CEO David Ellison told staff in a memo on Wednesday 28 October, which The Hollywood Reporter viewed. Mixed · 2Sisgold joined Skydance in 2014 to lead strategy and business affairs and became COO later that year. He later ran Skydance Sports, which became Paramount Sports Entertainment after Skydance acquired Paramount.

Mixed · 2At RedBird he will be a senior advisor across its sports and entertainment (media and sports) holdings. The Hollywood Reporter says the role is based in Beverly Hills, and Ellison's memo says Sisgold will keep working with Skydance on sports and entertainment opportunities. Left · 1In the memo, Ellison credited Sisgold with building the interactive business, raising capital, and forging ties with Tencent, RedBird, CJ ENM and KKR. He also credited Sisgold with helping establish Skydance Animation Madrid and helping lead the Paramount merger. He wrote that he could not have built Skydance without him. Left · 1Ellison also said Sisgold helped create Skydance Sports with the NFL. Under Sisgold, he said, the unit renewed its NFL partnership, earned ten Sports Emmy nominations and delivered #1 releases across four platforms.

Centre · 1Deadline links the exit to a restructuring by George Cheeks, Skydance TV Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer. In a staff memo that afternoon, Cheeks named his 10 top executives across studios, entertainment, sports and news, and referred to Sisgold's move. Centre · 1Under the new structure, Skydance TV Studios will house Warner Bros. Television Group (Channing Dungey), CBS Studios (David Stapf) and Paramount Television Studios (Matt Thunell). Deadline says an existing executive team will take charge of the largely unscripted roster Sisgold oversaw. Mixed · 2Deadline describes RedBird CEO Gerry Cardinale as a Skydance board member and a primary architect of the $110 billion Paramount-WBD merger. Ellison's memo recalls a 2019 meeting between Sisgold, Cardinale and Ellison that led to RedBird's partnership with Skydance.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
