The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Jesy Nelson, the 35-year-old former Little Mix singer, has reportedly withdrawn from this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! so that Nelson can look after twin daughters who have Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 1. Mixed · 2Nelson had been due to fly to Australia next month for the ITV show, where filming begins next month. Mixed · 2The account comes from a source quoted by The Sun, who said Nelson made the decision with a "heavy heart" and that the girls, Ocean and Story, are unwell: "there is no way Jesy would leave them. Her family are her priority."

Mixed · 2The source said Nelson had seen the show as a platform to continue campaigning on SMA and to "show a side to her the public may not have seen before". Mixed · 2Both outlets say ITV has been supportive and would leave the door open for a return; the Standard quotes the source as saying ITV had been "amazing". Right · 1GB News adds that Nelson was believed to be lined up for a six-figure deal, had spent several weeks negotiating before telling ITV executives last month that Nelson could not commit, and would have been the first Little Mix member in the jungle; it also cites a separate programme insider saying producers were "gutted".

Mixed · 2Nelson revealed the twins' diagnosis in January, saying they would likely never walk, and has become a prominent campaigner for newborn SMA screening; a petition Nelson started gained more than 150,000 signatures. Mixed · 2The Standard says a nationwide trial was launched last month, while GB News says a pilot to test more than 400,000 babies began rolling out this month and aims to go nationwide within a year, so the two differ on timing. Mixed · 2Wayne Rooney and Joanna Page are among names tipped for the series by both outlets; the Standard also names Chloe Burrows, and GB News names Ben Stokes and Ricky Wilson.

Mixed · 2The reports are unconfirmed: both outlets say they have approached ITV and Nelson's representatives for comment.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
