The story, neutrally told

Joachim Rønning, the Norwegian filmmaker behind Tron: Ares, has set up an original horror film called System with Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios. The film is in production in London, and both outlets say its plot and cast are being kept under wraps. Deadline says Rønning is directing from a script he co-wrote with his brother Andreas Rønning.

Rønning also produces through his company The Saga Company, alongside Spooky Pictures' Roy Lee and Steven Schneider. Image Nation CEO Ben Ross and Spooky's Rami Yasin are executive producers. UTA Independent Film Group arranged the financing and is handling sales.

The Hollywood Reporter calls the smaller-scale horror film a change of pace for a director who has mostly made big franchise films, and says Tron: Ares did poorly at the box office. Spooky and Image Nation have previously partnered on genre titles including Hokum, Company and The Liberation.
