The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Fox News Media announced on Monday 5 October 2026 that Karoline Leavitt, the former White House press secretary, is joining Fox News Channel as a contributor, starting on November 1. Mixed · 2She is to provide commentary and analysis; Raw Story, citing the New York Times, says that includes both opinion and news programming. Mixed · 2Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said Leavitt's "firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape."

Right · 1Leavitt said she was grateful "to continue appearing on Fox News Channel as an official member of the extraordinary team" and would bring her perspective as press secretary and the same energy and candor. Mixed · 2Leavitt served as the 36th press secretary from January 2025 until August 2026 and was the youngest person to hold the job; the Washington Examiner says she stepped down on Aug. 27 and was 27 when appointed. Right · 2She said on Aug. 12 that she had made a "bittersweet decision" to leave because she could not balance the job with being the mother she wanted to be to her two young children; she had given birth to her second child on May 1.

Right · 1On her departure, Trump said she would be an outside adviser, and the Washington Examiner reports she said she planned to return to MAGA Inc., the Trump-aligned super PAC where she previously worked. Mixed · 2Before the White House she was national press secretary for Trump's 2024 campaign, lost a 2022 New Hampshire congressional race to Rep. Chris Pappas, worked as communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik, and in Trump's first term was a presidential writer and assistant press secretary. Mixed · 2Variety and Just the News note she follows Kayleigh McEnany, another former Trump press secretary at Fox; Variety also lists Kudlow, and former officials hosting at MS NOW and ABC.

Left · 1Raw Story, citing the New York Times, says Fox's relationship with Trump is "complicated": Trump posted last week that Fox airs "a completely negative narrative" and on Sunday criticised "Fox & Friends" over Maria Bartiromo being taken off the air. It also cites an AP-NORC poll (Sept. 24-28) with 31% approving of Trump's job performance.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
