The story, neutrally told

Kylie Kelce apologised on the 1 October episode of her podcast "Not Gonna Lie" for how she referred to Catherine, Princess of Wales, on an earlier episode. On the 24 September episode, Kelce invited the princess to be a guest, addressing her as "Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge" and mentioning shared interests in field hockey and children. She also referred to their husbands having talked on "the other podcast", which Hindustan Times, citing People, says meant Prince William's July appearance on "New Heights", hosted by Jason and Travis Kelce.

In the apology Kelce said she had been unaware that calling the princess "Princess Kate" was offensive, and that she wanted to refer to people "in the most respectful way and how they feel respected". She then addressed the princess directly: "Princess Catherine, or the Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will get that sorted immediately starting now." Kelce repeated her invitation, citing the princess's field hockey background, her children and her cancer battle, while saying she did not think the princess had time to appear and that nobody owed her anything.

Hindustan Times says Catherine's formal title is Princess of Wales and, citing E! News, that she has said she prefers "Catherine" when addressed directly; it adds, citing People, that she reportedly asked friends in 2008 to call her Catherine. Kelce, married to former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason Kelce, launched the podcast in December 2024; it is produced by Wave, which also launched "New Heights". Hindustan Times adds it won a Webby Award in May, and Variety notes Kerry Washington was a guest on the 1 October episode.
