The story, neutrally told

Season 3 of the Paramount+ oil drama Landman has begun production in Fort Worth, Texas. Four actors have been promoted to series regulars: Colm Feore (Nate), Mustafa Speaks (Boss), Bobbi Salvor Menuez (Paigyn) and Francesca Xuereb (Cheyenne). TVLine describes the characters as former MTex lawyer Nathan, crew chief Boss, Ainsley's college roommate Paigyn, and T.L.'s "physical therapist" Cheyenne, whose real name is Penny.

Billy Bob Thornton leads the returning cast, which includes Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter, Sam Elliott, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie and James Jordan. Michael Kelly was previously announced as joining for season 3; TVLine says he will play William Crockett, who directs the world's biggest oil-management firm, and Variety says he joins as a series regular. The Hollywood Reporter says Paramount announced the news with one photo tease; TVLine says the first photo shows a hard hat with a CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle sticker, which it reads as confirmation the new business is a go.

Season 2 ended with Tommy (Thornton) fired by Cami (Moore) as head of M-Tex and starting his own company, CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, with his son Cooper, which ties him to cartel boss Gallino (Garcia). Variety says Nielsen multiplatform data showed the series averaging over 14 million viewers an episode in the first five weeks of 2026. The Hollywood Reporter notes Taylor Sheridan has a deal to move his TV output to NBCUniversal from 2028, and that Thornton has said the vision for many seasons of Landman remains steady.

TVLine adds that Thornton said in May that filming would start in August, but it hears he spoke prematurely and dates had not been finalised. Collider says production was originally scheduled to start in May but was delayed several times before cameras began rolling within the last week, and that the season will not return until sometime next year. Collider also recalls that earlier in the summer it was announced most returning cast members, including Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Demi Moore and Jacob Lofland, were getting pay raises, while Thornton was not because his three-season contract runs through season 3; the show has not yet been renewed for season 4.

Screen Rant, citing The Hollywood Reporter, describes Nate as the oil-company attorney who becomes treasurer of Tommy's new venture, Boss as the veteran in charge of the drilling crew, Paigyn as Ainsley's TCU roommate and Cheyenne as the stripper Tommy hires to help rehab T.L. Deadline lists the executive producers, including Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Christian Wallace and Thornton, and says the show is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Sheridan's Bosque Ranch Productions; it says details of the season 3 storyline have yet to be revealed.
