The story, neutrally told

A man has been charged with stabbing a Metropolitan Police officer during a raid on Tuesday 29 September that targeted a suspected organised crime group. GB News names him as Charles Charalambous, 56, of Claremont Road, Cockfosters. It says he was charged overnight with wounding with intent to cause GBH to resist arrest. He was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning.

The officer was stabbed in the leg in the early hours while executing a warrant in Cockfosters. The officer was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Two other men from the same operation were also charged. Carl Robinson, 49, of Stanford Rivers, Essex, was charged with possessing offensive weapons in a private place, namely three knives. Bradley Byford, 37, of Bishop's Stortford, was charged with possessing a weapon to discharge a noxious thing, namely electricity. Police arrested 18 people in total, 17 in the morning and one later in the day. All have been bailed while the investigation continues.

The Metropolitan Police described the offences as "complex". It said they need extensive investigation and detailed examination of evidence.
