The story, neutrally told

Mixed · 2Thomas Bell, of Wellington Road, Rhyl, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Friday 9 October charged with murder after a woman's body was found in a burning van in Prestatyn, Denbighshire. Mixed · 2Emergency services were called to reports of a van on fire in Gas Works Lane, close to an industrial estate and retail park in the town centre, at about 11.30pm on Sunday; a murder investigation began after a body was found inside. Mixed · 2The victim was named as Samantha Natalie Phythian, 35, known as Sammi, from Rhyl; police confirmed she was pregnant, and the Mirror reported that a post-mortem examination found this.

Mixed · 2Judge Geraint Walters told the court the woman was alive when the fire started and died as a result of it; the BBC quoted the judge as saying "Someone set the van alight and the person was alive and was killed as a result of the fire." Centre · 1The court heard that the victim was known to the defendant, who denies setting the vehicle alight; Bell appeared by video link and spoke only to confirm a name. Mixed · 2Bell was remanded in custody and is due to enter a formal plea on 27 November, with a provisional trial date set for April 2027; the BBC said the plea hearing would be at Caernarfon Crown Court, while the Mirror said the three-week trial could be held at either Mold or Caernarfon.

Mixed · 2Her family paid tribute to a "much-loved mum, daughter, sister, auntie and friend" and asked people to be mindful of rumours on social media. Left · 1Detective Chief Inspector Zoie Dunkerley of North Wales Police said officers would keep a visible presence in the area, urged the community not to comment in ways that could add to the family's distress or interfere with legal proceedings, and appealed for information via webchat or 101, quoting reference 26000816112.

Every sentence links to the reporting it rests on. The pill in front of each says where its sources sit: Left, Centre or Right when one side supplies at least half of them, Mixed when they are evenly split. The number is how many outlets it cites.
