Framing
Both treat it as a crime and migration story. The Straits Times runs AFP's wire copy in a neutral register; the Daily Express adds a dramatic headline and ties it to illegal Channel crossings.
Emphasis
The Express stresses the UK link and the distance from the Channel; the AFP copy stresses the prosecutor's account and charges.
Leaves out or plays down
Neither gives motive, the victim's or suspect's identity, or the migrants' nationalities, none of which were released.
Charged language
“Illegal migrant van horror”“ten illegal migrants”
For example
“A man has been found dead inside a van with a UK licence carrying ten illegal migrants.” — Daily Express
“carrying irregular migrants parked in a rest stop along a northern French motorway” — The Straits Times
