The story, neutrally told

Margot Robbie and Jason Blum have joined Cinema United's Filmmaker Leadership Council, a group of producers and directors. Cinema United president and CEO Michael O'Leary welcomed them, calling both "well-known, fierce advocates of the theatrical experience". They join council leaders Jerry Bruckheimer and Emma Thomas and charter members Ryan Coogler, Brad Bird, Jason Reitman and Celine Song.

Greg Foster is the council's executive director. Deadline says the council gives feedback and recommendations on issues including consolidation, release windows, marketing of the cinema experience, and innovation and technology, and that it meets quarterly. Robbie said she believes "movie theatres are essential to our art form", and Blum said "Movie theaters are where fans are made."

Council chair Bruckheimer said their combined impact on the industry is enormous. Robbie is in production on an "Ocean's Eleven" prequel that she is also producing, and Blum founded Blumhouse Productions, behind franchises including "The Purge" and "Insidious". Deadline adds that Blum is due to speak to exhibitors at Cinema United's Fall Summit in Los Angeles this week.
